Dream High 2 Week 3: The story starts here..

I’m delayed :D But while I wait for Week 4, let me refresh first..

I’ve said I’d be staying just for another week.. But here I am, I think I’d be staying now until the end. The story is having its own shape. I’ve read that the script has been changed and that can only mean good things, more than bad. *crossing fingers* So I really hope that DH 2 will finally find itself.

In Week 3, love lines are revealed. Both concerning the past and a possible future. I’m clueless as to who is going to end up with who. Though I’m really loving Yoo Jin with Hae Sung (JinSung FTW!!). Is JB going to meddle and bring forth a confused heart? Let’s see about that..

The duet performance started. Unfortunately when it was Hae Sung’s turn, her mic did not function since it has no battery. Oops, someone took the battery out?? Everyone heard Soon Dong said that Ri-An has done it since they were able to use the mic just before they sung. Just when Hae Sung was about to approach Ri-An by the stairs, JB came to view. Sweet guy, he said that he knows Ri-An wouldn’t do such a thing and gave her a comforting hug.

Hae Sung saw what transpired, her heart was broken seeing JB with Ri-An. But more than that, I think she felt guilty because it turns out that she was the one who took out the batteries. Someone is being accused badly because of her. Tsk tsk.. I’m uber happy Yoo Jin showed up and dragged Hae Sung out. She tripped and fell down on the way. Without hesitating, she looked up and told Yoo Jin the truth. Aww.. instead of getting angry or whatnot, Yoo Jin simply put on Hae Sung’s shoes for her. This guy just wouldn’t spare my heart from skipping a beat.

The next performers where Hong Joo and Nana. What a beautiful duet from them. Anyhow, JB was still talking with Ri-An. She simply won’t allow this situation to just be like an acting lesson. True, its unfair to be in her shoes. On the other hand, Yoo Jin feels happy about what happened, even throwing the batteries himself into the garbage. Though Hae Sung was already feeling down, Yoo Jin finds what she did was right. He even defended Hae Sung when she was about to tell everyone the truth, just to keep things hidden.

It was JB and Yoo Jin’s duet that was next. At first, Yoo Jin just stood on stage with his hands in pocket. But eventually he was able to go with the rhythm and surprised everyone of his dancing skills. Delight! I just knew he’d just trample JB somehow. He did just that. It was disappointing that he got disqualified but I understand, since he could have done better.

The students who belonged to the lower class or those who were disqualified, went to a training camp. Ri-An was already familiar with the place. Just like what her band mates guessed, it was the same training camp they all went to before. They were given a goal, they have to find four treasure boxes where their precious belongings are kept. As long as they haven’t found it, they had to undergo special training. More of a physical type of training. No singing or enhancement of vocals but more on discipline and not thinking of just ones self.

Since Ri-An knows the rule well, she told Hae Sung that she might find the treasure by the swing at the back side of the camp. But then when Hae Sung arrived, she found nothing there. She went to see Ri-An again, this time she was traversing at an obstacle course. Unfortunately, Ri-An fell down and was immediately rushed at the clinic.

In the dorm, Nana convinced JB that they all go visit Ri-An at the camp site. When they arrived, they went to see Ri-An at the clinic but she already left. JB then went to their “secret” place, the swing. We had a glimpse of their couple days, back when they were just trainees. Both happened to spot JB’s treasure by that swing. It was a worn-out shoes. Yup, this guy really does put effort in his work. Ri-An received the other pair of shoe from JB.. okay, that’s sweet.  That was the first pair JB had worn out from practicing. JB promised that he’d have 9 more before his debut and that he’d give all of it to Ri-An.

Back to the present, JB asked Ri-An why she’s by the swing. She gave the excuse that she thought she’d find a treasure there.. treasure of memories?? Heh. JB wonders if Ri-An still has his 9 shoes, instead of answering directly, she simply stamped her feet onto JB like the way she used to. Does she want another pair of worn-out shoe from him? I am not sure. But that was a cute moment from them..

Hae Sung was out in the woods trying to find the treasure while Yoo Jin was also out looking for her. She successfully completed four treasures just in time when Yoo Jin found her. As she was about to climb up, she slipped and strained her feet providing us with another cute bonding moment from my JinSung  ♥

love love love this rendition of song!!

Yoo Jin and Hae Sung went back at camp and saw everyone celebrating. OMO, I smell trouble.. Hae Sung approached the Commanding Officer (CO) to surrender the four treasures she has found. But then, the students already surrendered four treasures too, since JB suggested that the CO won’t notice anything. Aww poor Hae Sung, just when she thought she’d be saving the students, they were all back to training instead. To make matters worst, Ri-An found a letter where Hae Sung confessed that she was the one who removed the batteries. She read it for everyone to hear and gave Hae Sung a slap on the face. Shoot! That is totaly uncalled for though..

The knight of Hae Sung just revealed himself. Yoo Jin defended Hae Sung telling everyone that he stopped her from revealing the truth since Ri-An is at fault as well. Touche. However, we see that the students won’t just let this matter go. So sad.. Hae Sung just stood there.. frozen.

For fifteen days, Hae Sung is suspended. The worst part is, nobody is on her side. Even Soon Dong.. what a true friend indeed. Her task is to clean the entire Kirin. While doing so, another character came to view. It is President Lee’s bratty daughter, Seul. Looks like she’d be staying for good. BTW, is Hae Sung the only room in the dorm? Heh.

Principal Joo has been kicked out of Kirin. Now he is simply running his chicken restaurant. After learning this unfortunate event, Yoo Jin went to see Principal Joo and got his guitar back. I’m seeing Oh Hyuk come to life through Principal Joo..  is he going to be as inspiring? Yoo Jin badly needs to be shaken.

Yoo Jin is in debt so he thought of having a street performance with his classmates. He tried to convince everyone to join him. Even Jin Man was willing enough to support them. Hae Sung got on board as well. They practiced in a studio to prepare for the event. Hae Sung is a terrible singer. It’s frustrating everyone, especially Yoo Jin. Hae Sung was trying to keep her cool self despite lacking in so many ways.  It’s this positive vibe that keeps her afloat. Without it, she’d be in deep water now. Yoo Jin is also helping her, though his approach is kinda rough on the edges. But she really listens to him.

Ri-An was pissed because her stuff was thrown out of the closet. She tried putting it back when a box fell down. Oho, she has kept the 9 JB shoes! Someone’s heart still cares.. Anyhow, I find Ri-An to be tough on the outside, really trying hard to show everyone that side but she really is one marshmallow. I guess in show business, one has to develop a thick skin or else, one can’t survive.

Moving on, I love the Rubiks’ cube scene. I love what Hae Sung said “Maybe you didn’t try it with matching it as your objective. Because whether it gets done or not, you’re twisting it enough without a thought. That’s why you haven’t succeeded once” I’m thinking, is this her principle? I feel like she’s an unsolved Rubik’s cube. Any angle, no matter how hard you twist, it just doesn’t fit. Like she’s trying to sing, but she just couldn’t get the tune right. What to do with her then?

It’s Ri-An’s birthday and JB pretended not to know it. But of course, he was thinking of a surprise party for her all along. He gathered their friends to prepare for it. While everyone is busy, birthday girl is left in her room, sulky. Soon Dong was there and informed her that they’d be having a street performance that very day. JB and company was all in a room waiting for Ri-An but she’s off to Hongdae, clueless that a party was set for her.

On the street, everyone was set to perform when Ri-An arrived. To the audience delight, they cheered for Ri-An to sing. So Hae Sung stepped aside and let Ri-An lead the band instead of her. She simply let the opportunity slip away and her confidence was gone with it. On the side note, everyone happily performed and singed, yes even Yoo Jin. At one moment we see him looking around for Hae Sung but he couldn’t spot her since she already left. While doing so, Yoo Jin caught a suspicious man lurking. Just as the man was about to throw a cake to Ri-An, he was able to cover her immediately. Seems like Yoo Jin is the knight of the week.

Yoo Jin and friends went to Principal Joo’s chicken resto to celebrate. They even congratulated Ri-An since its her birthday. They happily greeted her and enjoyed the rest of the night. Back in Kirin, JB’s surprise party was a fail. As he sadly looked at the cake, he was suddenly disrupted hearing Hae Sung sing at the other room. Our girl is practicing! She could actually sing.. and she’s even playing the piano. Is this just going to be kept tucked away?

JB became her audience that night giving her encouragement. This is actually what she needs, just someone to listen to her. JB provided just that. He actually appreciated her and gladly clapped like a fan. Of course we need some interruption courtesy of Yoo Jin and Ri-An. They both arrived and was surprised to see JB and Hae Sung together. It wasn’t actually jealousy, it was more of a disappointment that I felt. Since Ri-An was expecting JB to prepare for her birthday while Yoo Jin was expecting Hae Sung to be with him.. but instead the Rubik’s couple was having a great time together.

Hae Sung tried to apologize to everyone by giving out apple. But was crushed when it was all returned inside her locker. As each apple scatter around, Hae Sung cried, feeling disheartened and dejected since nobody accepted her apology. Then came Yoo Jin, seeing her cry just breaks his heart as well. He was about to approach her side when JB came towards Hae Sung, just few steps ahead of him. *Darn it!* JB, picked up one of the apple and even ate it. Hae Sung was still in a daze and just continued crying. So JB forced a smile on her face. Yoo Jin have seen it all.. and we see the look of regret since he is seconds too late. It could have been him, you know.

MY THOUGHTS:

Love is in the air!!

DH has a history about OTP. So I’m just going to go with what is presented since anything can still happen at this stage. But if you are going to ask me about a pair I’m really loving right now, it would have to be JinSung ♥ They are adorable! I have to say, Yoo Jin does care for Hae Sung.. maybe out of sympathy or worry than love though. One thing I’m sure as of now, he wants to be someone who is there for Hae Sung, since she needs it. If it’s going to lead him to thinking he likes her, good then. However, I’m still not sure if it will lead to romance. We need more proof. What I’m seeing is great vibes from them but no assurance just yet. Better hold your horse peeps.. or should I say this to myself. Heh.

JB and Ri-An are cute back in the days. Obviously they still care for each other. I guess that is one thing that they’d have forever. Love is another story though. Definitely something went askew that lead to the break up. Dreams and ambition can indeed break hearts. They were young then and priorities had to be fixed, and love set aside. Is there a chance we can see a rekindling love? No for now, IMO.

The ending part was a bit confusing. I literally hit my screen! Haha. Maybe I was kinda loving Yoo Jin being Hae Sung’s knight and was expecting he’d always be there for her. And yet suddenly JB came to view.. Aigoo.. Why is this disappointing? But story wise, very good twist. I wasn’t expecting it but I guess show has plans so, let it be.

I wish Hae Sung will redeem herself soon. I wish Yoo Jin will not be dismayed and continue to stay by Hae Sung side. The moment he stays away, my JinSung will be in immense trouble. Also, I wish he’d just figure out why he is stagnant. He better change his attitude towards work since it’s badly covering his gift.  JB better learn how to act because I’m getting nothing from him than just a pretty face. Sorry. Spare me please. He’s cute but very bland. He can’t simply dance his way towards my heart. He has to do more.

Maybe Ri-An can help him, or Hae Sung is a good option too. I think JB lost his heart by being focused on making himself a star. Someone has to bring it back. The Rubik’s couple seem to be showing a premise, the puzzle might be solved. I hope it is soon.

There’s a lot of hanging questions in my head while I watch Week 3 episode. This is good since I’m forced to think and anticipate what’s gonna happen next. I’m looking at a story where dreams are made challenging and that we can’t always have what we want. Very relatable. The characters all has flaws and I can’t wait for each to grow and find their way. Everyone is given different medium to paint their goal. Some lack colors the other person might have. I want to see how each will fare and show us that by being a star you strive, persevere and use well what you have. That dreams can still be achieved even if you are not born with talent.

Paulo Coelho said that we must persevere. If this is going to be DH 2′s theme, then I’m in. Also, more of this..

The first two weeks, I found myself shaking my head out of frustration and disappointment. But after I’ve seen episode 5 and 6, I slowly nod as the plot develops and as the conflicts get more meat. I especially adore the moments of Jinwoon and Hyeseung! I like the pairing! I just hope JB will instead fall for Rian again which is kinda unlikely so far . . .

Thank you for the weekly recap! I had fun reading it and comparing our thoughts! :D

Basically Ep 1-5 bored me out so much I wanted to give up, then 6 picked up a little, had some really good scenes and fleshed out how much YJ cared for HS, albeit a lil bit too harsh (I’m a dead firm JinSung shipper).

But reading comments on 7&8 made me BLEH again. I hope when I watch it I won’t throw a fit or something. Give us the DREAM, DH2. The DREAM!~

    hiyee ladies!!

purple lee, dearest winner.. i was about to give up too but I find week 3 very interesting enough so I’m sticking with it.. JinSung keeps me hanging.. I also lowered my expectations now.. haha..

ripgal, I feel you.. I dragged myself for few episodes and questioned what I was watching.. I think the previous writer got nervous knowing the first season was a hit.. Dream High 2 doesn’t have to be like the first season.. it just has to deliver its own flavor.. haven’t seen Week 4.. I’m waiting for subs.. I’m reading a lot about Ri-An and Yoo Jin.. but I have to see it myself :D

see you two around! your thoughts are welcomed :D

Noooo… RA-YJ do not belong together! I don’t care if RA ends up with JB or even anyone, but YJ is HS’s (or mine lol). I haven’t seen 8 yet, but after 7, my heart is f99.99999999% sure it will be YJ-HS. The writer better not mess up with this OTP or he/she’ll get it from me. grr..:/

Same here I was ready to give up on this drama, I felt frustrated I don’t know where the characters are going especially Hyesung, she wants to be a singer but she could not carry a note. I mean come on to be a singer you need to be able to sing (elementary my dear), this drama ohhhh so painstakingly showed us that Hyesung has no talent 5 episodes of teeth grinding frustration. JB could not act worth a damn, the blank stare got to me. He is not so bad when playing a vulnerable kid but these scenes are sparse. Yoo Jin was the only character that is even remotely relatable although that chip on his shoulder is getting wayyyyy out of hand as to not make sense anymore, they should tone it down a bit. I mean I get it that he wants to do music on his own terms but to refuse help, come on that’s taking things a bit too far.
The thing is I stuck with this drama for 2 things Yoo jin’s rendition of You Walking Towards Me and his storyline. I would like to see him get the recognition he deserves because dude the guy has talent in spades. I am now in love with his rendition of Starlight is Falling can’t wait to get a copy of his version. I have the original by Bye Bye Sea but I also like his cover. The story is now moving along and getting more interesting but there are still flaws but when i keep checking if Episode 8 has been uploaded then it means I’m sticking with it until the end.

I really enjoy every ep of DH 2. Jinwoon 2am is my bias now. I guess this is his 1st acting experience n he’s really good. JB has a good looking 2 but his acting is quite lame. Hope tht he’ll improve 4 better. About the loveline, I wnt Yoojin n Haesung 2 end up 2gether. They hv a good chemistry, unlike Haesung n JB(though sumtimes I luv their sweet moments). I keep on waiting Yoojin n Haesung will make a progress 4 their rltnship. JB n Rian seems good 2 b paired up since they’re both idol n ever became a couple b4 their debut. Yoojin Haesung,, FIGHTING!!! DH 2 daebak!!!

since DH1 was a hit, i have high hopes for season 2. then, when they announced the cast.. i was a bit doubtful whether it will be huge like the first season. for the first episodes, i found it boring. i was a bit frustrated with some of the characters especially shin haesung. neither can she sing nor dance and she’s an ultimate idol stalker, which i found funny and scary at the same time. but as the story progress, i started to get hooked. i really like the episodes where almost everyone are trying to find haesung and convince her to comeback, especially the scene in a bus terminal and the confrontation between her father and teacher ahn. it was heartbreaking that i cried and had my eyes swollen the next day. :) it’s a must see episode. though i like yoojin, i also like jb and haesung’s sweet moments, especially the episode where they were asked to draw themselves, they’re so cute! plus, i really like the songs and dance moves in dh2. sorry for the spoilers.. it’s a must see episode though.

yo! leila8mae.. fwend, it’s me..rus.. haha! just trying to post my comment here for a change. we barely see each other @ work. LOL! :P
